Luiss climbed the QS Ranking by Subject 2022 entering the top 100 universities in the world for Social Sciences and Management, a significant milestone of global recognition for our University. An exceptional result was also obtained by the Department of Political and International Studies, where Luiss ranks 22nd place in the world and 1st in Italy. The Department of Business and Management and that of Law also entered the Top 100, with the former climbing from 105th to 59th place in the ranking for Business and Management Studies, and the latter positioning itself 82nd in the area of Law. Both Departments rank 3rd in Italy.
Since joining the QS Ranking by Subject in 2016, Luiss climbed nearly 300 positions. The prestigious ranking, awarding the world’s best universities for individual subject areas, is based on an independent comparative analysis of university programs comprising over 1,500 universities in 88 locations around the world. The university ranking is calculated using five indicators relating to academic, employer, and research reputation.
In addition to Research, two other pillars of the 2021-2024 Strategic Plan proved to be major drivers of Luiss’s international success, that are Global and Regional Engagement Strategy and Luiss Uniqueness – The Educational Model. The Global and Regional Engagement Strategy aims at making Luiss a model of a global university rooted in Italy through investment in its internationalization strategy. The objectives of the Strategy are to attract international students, researchers, and professors, expand study exchange opportunities, and develop strategic partnerships with universities and foreign stakeholders. This internationalization effort complements the ongoing work to improve the educational offering that is increasingly in line with the current needs of labor markets. The educational model adopted by the University is based on interdisciplinarity, the integration between research and teaching, innovation in learning and evaluation models, and interaction with partner networks. It is a model focused on active learning by students, who are encouraged to adopt an investigative approach to scientific phenomena and are offered opportunities to work on research projects relevant to real problems highlighted by companies and institutions. The success of this model is also confirmed by the growing appreciation of Luiss graduates in the job world. It is no coincidence that the training of young talents is appreciated by national and international employers, and therefore, is a fundamental factor contributing towards the University’s positive progress in the QS ranking in recent years.
The establishment of Luiss – Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli – among the top 100 universities in the world in the area of Social Sciences and Management is the result of the joint effort of Faculty, researchers, staff, students, Alumni, and Luiss partners. This achievement is further proof of the consolidation of the University’s international profile and reputation, making us proud of Luiss.
