ALL in focus “La Germania dopo l’era Merkel”. Ne hanno parlato Tobias Moerschen della fondazione Friedrich-Ebert, tradizionalmente vicina alla SPD, e Francesca Traldi della fondazione Konrad Adenauer, tradizionalmente in area CDU, intervistati dalla giornalista Elisa Dotti. L’incontro, organizzato con l’aiuto di Lorenzo Trapassi, Alumnus Luiss ed ex Primo Segretario a Berlino, si è tenuto nei giorni immediatamente successivi alle elezioni tedesche, le prime dopo la rinuncia di Angela Merkel a correre per un nuovo mandato da Cancelliera. Il dibattito è stato pertanto centrato sulle prospettive immediate, con l’avvio delle negoziazioni per la formazione di un governo tra SPD, Verdi e Liberali a guida Olaf Scholtz, ma anche sugli impatti di lungo termine per il paese e per l’UE. Nonostante il cambiamento rilevante che ha portato la SPD a togliere alla CDU il ruolo di primo partito tedesco da circa 30 anni, il dibattito ha confermato una certa continuità della linea del paese, pur emergendo nuove tematiche, dall’ambiente al processo di riforma dell’UE e dei patti che ne regolano il funzionamento. ALL in focus, on “Germany after Merkel”. Tobias Moerschen of the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation, an entity that by tradition is close to the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), and Francesca Traldi of the Konrad Adenauer a body associated with the area of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU), discussed this in an interview with Journalist Elisa Dotti.

The meeting was organized with the support of Lorenzo Trapassi, Luiss Alumnus and former Head of the Secretariat at the Italian Embassy in Berlin. The meeting was held in the immediate aftermath of the elections and following Angela Merkel stepped down as Chancellor.

The debate centered on the immediate prospects with the start of negotiations for the formation of a government between the SPD, the Greens and the Free Democrats, and led by Olaf Scholtz. Discussions also covered the long-term impacts for the country and for the EU.

Despite the significant change with the SPD managing to reverse the trend of the CDU as first party for approximately 30 years, the debate confirmed a continuity of the country’s future trajectory, while new issues emerged, from the environment to the EU reform process, and the agreements regulating its functioning. The meeting closed with the concluding remarks from Lorenzo Trapassi.
