Il dibattito si è incentrato su una serie di tematiche relative allo sviluppo del mercato italiano del private equity, mettendo in luce le differenti caratteristiche degli operatori attivi in questo settore: da coloro che si focalizzano in investimenti in puro private equity, a quelli che propongono un mix di debito e capitale ibrido, fino a coloro che si occupano degli aspetti legali relativi alle operazioni di private equity.

Il tema dell’innovazione, il fil rouge dell’incontro, si è articolato attorno ad una serie di spunti che hanno evidenziato i progressi compiuti dal settore negli ultimi anni e messo in luce quanto ancora resti da fare, specialmente in confronto agli altri mercati europei. La discussione si è incentrata non solo su tematiche relative ai cambiamenti normativi nel settore, ma anche sulla necessità che gli imprenditori italiani si aprano maggiormente all’apporto di capitali privati affinché possano crescere in un mercato sempre più globale e globalizzato. Si è anche discusso delle modalità con le quali le innovative tecniche di fintech possano aiutare le società operanti nel settore nella raccolta di capitali privati e nella selezione di imprese target,  nonché delle modalità in cui tematiche relative ai rating e alle metriche di Environmental Sustainability Governance (ESG) possano guidare le scelte strategiche delle società operanti nel settore.

Infine, si è sviluppato un dibattito con il pubblico, come sempre molto interessato alle nuove frontiere del mercato.

On 13 October at the Milan Luiss Hub, the roundtable on “Innovation in Private Equity” was held. The debate was presented by Chapter Leader, Domenico Di Luccia, moderated by the Director of Economics and Finance of the University, Paolo Santucci de Magistris, and saw the participation of 4 Luiss Alumni–who are involved in the world of private equity and Italian private capital with strong international connections:

The debate focused on a series of issues relating to the development of the Italian private equity market and highlighted the different operators working in this sector including those who focus on pure private equity investments, those who propose a mix of debt and hybrid capital, and those who are dealing with the legal aspects of private equity transactions.

The fil rouge of the meeting was innovation. The meeting was articulated around this theme and spotlighted the progress made by the sector in recent years and what is still to be done compared to other European markets. The discussion focused not only on issues relating to regulatory changes in the sector, but also on the need for Italian entrepreneurs to be more open towards the contribution of private capital to grow in an increasingly international and globalized market. Panelists also discussed the ways in which the innovative fintech techniques can help companies operating in the sector to increase private capital and in the selection of target companies, as well as how issues of ratings and Environmental Sustainability Governance metrics (ESG) can guide the strategic choices of companies operating in the sector.

Finally, a dialogue was also fostered with the audience that is as always very interested in the new frontiers of the market.
