1-Hour Talk con Matteo Maggiori: The international monetary system: debt in the post covid-19 world

On Thursday, June 4th, a new 1-Hour Talk was held, with Matteo Maggiori, Associate Professor of Finance at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. 

Matteo Maggiori is a recipient of the 2019 Guggenheim Fellowship and the 2019 Carlo Alberto Medal for the best Italian Economist under the age of 40. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation (CAREER grant), selected for the 2012 Review of Economic Studies May Meetings (European Tour), and won the 2013 and 2018 AQR Insight Award, and the 2017 AQR Young Researcher Award.

He discussed The international monetary system: debt in the post covid-19 world and, in particular, the role of safe assets, like US treasury bonds and the dollar, in the global financial system, the role of international currencies such as the dollar and to some extent the euro. He will provide an historical perspective on debt crises, but also some thoughts on and discussion of the current situation of fast expanding debt levels.
